We were incredibly lucky to be able to acquire this same coffee in last year's harvest, and it was absolutely mind blowing, with notes of strawberry and cream, it was excellent! This year's harvest is equally stunning, grown 1000 MASL higher than last year's harvest it presents with some similarities, yet also remarkable differences. Sporting notes of soft peach, and with a crisp, sharp acidity reminiscent of lemon lime, and ending with lingering notes of mango and chocolate, we were stunned when we tried this coffee, absolutely delicious!
This H16 Mundo Maya varietal is a hybrid varietal, a cross between T5296 (a rust resistant descendant of the Timor Hybrid), and a wild Ethiopian ET01.
V&G San Juanillo was started by Tomas Gutierrez, an agronomist, and Allan Vargas, and engineer. Working together they have created our favourite farm, they consistently produce delicious coffees and they are always experimenting, innovating, and pushing the boundaries of coffee. They focus mainly on growing new hybrid varietals which have been developed by CiCafe, the Coffee Research Institute of Costa Rica. Their farm is bee friendly, as a bonus!
